Based on records of buildings with Otis brand elevators, as many as 85% of the high rises in the world don’t have a 13th floor.
There’s no definitive answer out there on this yet, but it’s amusing. Is there any reason to fear a thirteenth floor? Until there’s evidence, let’s be skeptical… after all, the 13th floor is still the 13th floor, even if you call it the 14th.

But don’t be too smug about it, because the same psychological mechanism that drives them to such irrational rationalizations infects all of us, to a greater or lesser degree.
